Assistant Attorney General – Environmental Protection Division

The Office of the Attorney General, Environmental Protection Division, has an immediate opening for a full-time assistant attorney general with 5 years or more of experience.  The Environmental Protection Division represents the State of Vermont in state and federal courts in civil and criminal litigation, including appeals.  The Division handles water, air, land use and solid waste enforcement cases, and defends the state’s interests in other environmental matters.  The Division also provides general advice and counseling to various state agencies on environmental and other issues.  This position is located at the Attorney General’s Office in Montpelier, Vermont.

Candidates must be a member in good standing of the Vermont bar, or eligible to waive in, with relevant litigation and environmental law experience and excellent oral and written communication skills.

This assistant attorney general position is an exempt full-time position. Salary and benefits will be based upon qualifications and experience in accordance with the Attorney Pay Plan.
