The Administrative Services Coordinator provides mission-critical support to the Attorney General's Office. Duties include greeting guests at the Attorney General's Office in Montpelier, receiving and directing incoming phone calls, mail, and emails, and providing administrative support to the office's leadership team, including the Attorney General herself. 

The primary day-to-day function of this position is providing reception window coverage for the office and assisting constituents and other daily phone calls and emails received by the office. Much of this work requires compassion, empathy, and critical thinking skills to help solve problems and connect constituents with appropriate resource referrals, most commonly in state government. 

The Attorney General's Office has approximately 150 employees, including over 90 attorneys, and is divided into six divisions (Administration, Human Services, General Counsel & Administrative Law, Civil, Criminal, and Environmental & Public Protection). Examples of administrative support provided by the Administrative Services Coordinator include maintaining phone lists and personnel rosters and preparing travel authorizations and travel arrangements for all staff.

Experience working in a law firm or legal setting is preferred. The position is located at 109 State Street in Montpelier and reports to the Chief of Staff. This is not a remote position.

This position is classified as an Administrative Services Coordinator I by the Department of Human Resources.

Environmental Factors

Work is performed in a standard office setting.

Minimum Qualifications

Two years of full-time college coursework OR and associate's degree in accounting, business or public administration, office administration or closely related field.


One year of full-time college coursework in accounting, business or public administration, office administration or closely related field AND one (1) year or more of experience providing administrative-level support to a business or organization.


High School diploma or equivalent AND two (2) years or more of experience providing administrative-level support to a business or organization.


One (1) year or more of experience as an Administrative Services Technician IV with the State of Vermont.

NOTE: Only administrative work experience is qualifying. Administrative support includes those functions which keep the organization running or provide the resources for others to provide the programmatic work (e.g., accounting, budget management, grant administration, finance, human resources, payroll, purchasing, or space management).

Special Requirements

For some positions experience working with the VISION system VISION is the State of Vermont PeopleSoft financial management system may be required.
