Overview

Temporary Employee – AGO Front Office and HR Support
The Vermont Attorney General’s Office (AGO) seeks a part-time (up to 24 hours a week) temporary employee to provide human resources and administrative support to the Deputy Attorney General and Chief Assistant Attorney General.  Primary responsibilities include:

  •  Supporting the human resources functions for approximately 150 exempt and classified employees, including keeping personnel files and generating, tracking, and filing HR paperwork; assistance with other personnel actions as requested;
  •  Providing general administrative support to the Deputy Attorney General and Chief Assistant Attorney General including filing and tracking attorney appointment paperwork; formatting, filing, and tracking correspondence; scheduling; other support as requested.

Familiarity with State government and state HR processes is preferred.  Familiarity with word and excel is required.  Candidates should have a demonstrated ability to perform detail-oriented work while assisting with the smooth and efficient operation of a busy office.

This is a temporary position. Temporary work is typically for variable hours, and is not expected to be full-time. The State does not guarantee 40 hours of work per week.

Minimum Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent AND four 4 years or more of experience providing administrative-level support to a business or organization INCLUDING one 1 year or more in an accounting or budgeting function and experience as a supervisor of clerical or administrative staff. OR One year of full-time college level study in accounting, business or public administration, office administration or a related field AND three 3 years or more of experience providing administrative-level support to a business or organization INCLUDING one 1 year or more in an accounting or budgeting function and experience as a supervisor of clerical or administrative staff. OR Two years of full-time college level study OR an associate’s degree or higher in accounting, business or public administration, office administration or a related field AND two 2 years or more of experience providing administrative-level support to a business or organization INCLUDING one 1 year or more in an accounting or budgeting function and experience as a supervisor of clerical or administrative staff. OR Three years of full-time college level study in accounting, business or public administration, office administration or a related field AND one 1 year or more of experience providing administrative-level support to a business or organization INCLUDING one 1 year or more in an accounting or budgeting function and experience as a supervisor of clerical or administrative staff. OR Four years of full-time college level study OR a bachelor’s degree or higher in accounting, business or public administration, office administration or a related field. OR One 1 year or more as an Administrative Services CoordinatorIIwith the State of Vermont? NOTE: Only administrative work experience is qualifying. Administrative support includes those functions which keep the organization running or provide the resources for others to provide the programmatic work e.g., accounting, budget management, grant administration, finance, human resources, payroll, purchasing, or space management.

For some positions experience working with the VISION system VISION is the State of Vermont PeopleSoft financial management system may be required.
