This fall, Attorney General Donovan announced the 1st Annual “Lawyers Fighting Hunger” food drive. The food drive was a collaboration between the Office of the Attorney General, the Vermont Bar Association and the Vermont Foodbank. Attorney General Donovan asked all Vermont law firms and offices to participate in the two-week campaign, set for the last two weeks in September, which has been designated Hunger Action Month in Vermont. Over thirty Vermont law firms and offices signed up and participated in the first-ever event.
In just a two-week period, the Vermont legal community raised over $14,300 and more than 4,400 shelf-stable, non-perishable food items. All food and funds collected went directly to the Vermont Foodbank and over two hundred Vermont Foodbank-partner food shelves and meal sites around Vermont.
In connection with the Lawyers Fighting Hunger food drive, a “friendly competition” was held to recognize the firms and offices who raised the highest totals during the event. Winners in three categories will be announced by Attorney General Donovan at the VBA’s Annual Meeting in October.
Thank you to all who participated in the food drive to help Vermonters in need.
