Office of the Vermont Attorney General

11th Annual Tech Jam

October 20, 2017

Attorney General TJ Donovan convened a panel of data security and online privacy experts to educate the small business community. As part of the 11th Annual Tech Jam, #WhatTheHack spread the word about the Vermont Security Breach Notification Act and what businesses can do to protect themselves in the 21st century. The panel featured our own AAG Ryan Kriger, as well as: Bill Carrigan from the Department of Financial Regulation, Jonathan Rajewski from the Leahy Center for Digital Investigation at Champlain College, Sona Makkar and Claire Gartland from Facebook.

The event had over 50 attendees, including folks from local IT businesses and the cyber insurance industry. It was a productive conversation on best practices and policy. Feedback thus far has been overwhelmingly positive, and the AGO intends to expand its community partnerships to stay on top of this evolving issue.
