Assistant Attorney General – Environmental Protection Division

The Office of the Attorney General, Environmental Protection Division, has an immediate opening for a full-time assistant attorney general to work on legal matters for the Vermont Agency of Agriculture, Food and Markets.   This position will provide a range of legal services to the Agency including representation in rulemaking and regulatory proceedings and advice on contracts, public records and open meeting issues.  Duties may include work be related to the Food Safety Modernization Act (Public Law 111-353) Produce Safety Rule and to Certificate of Public Good (30 V.S.A. 248) proceedings before the Public Utility Commission.

The individual selected for the position will work closely with Agency staff and with other assistant attorneys general who handle Agency matters.  The position is located at the Attorney General’s Office at 109 State Street.  The successful candidate must be a member in good standing of the Vermont bar, with five years of relevant legal experience and excellent oral and written communication skills.

Salary and benefits will be based upon qualifications and experience in accordance with the State of Vermont Attorney Pay Plan. This position will remain open until filled.
