In a letter to the Vermont Legal Community on August 20th, Attorney General T.J. Donovan announced the 2nd Annual Lawyers Fighting Hunger Food Drive (and friendly competition). This year’s event will run from September 10th through 21st. September is Hunger Action Month in Vermont. The 2nd Annual Lawyers Fighting Hunger Food Drive is a partnership between the Attorney General’s Office, the Vermont Bar Association and the Vermont Foodbank.
Thirty-two Vermont law firms and offices participated in the first-ever Lawyers Fighting Hunger Food Drive last year. During just the two weeks of last year’s event, Vermont lawyers raised over $15,000 and collected over 4,4000 food items that went directly to the Vermont Foodbank to help those in need.
“I believe it is our shared privilege to practice law in Vermont,” said Attorney General Donovan in his letter announcing the event. “As a member of the Vermont legal community I believe we have a duty to help those in need when we can. I hope that your law firm or office will join my Office, the Vermont Foodbank and the Vermont Bar Association to make the 2nd Annual Lawyers Fighting Hunger Food Drive a success so that together we can help make sure that no one in our state needs to go hungry.”
Vermont law offices, firms and solo practices that are interested in participating in participating in this year’s Food Drive should return the form at the end of Attorney General Donovan’s letter (link below) by e-mail to Doug.Wemple@partner.vermont.gov no later than September 7th. Only one form needs to be returned for each participating law firm or office.
