Attorney General T.J. Donovan is reminding eligible Vermonters that claims for the Volkswagen settlement monies must be postmarked no later than March 14, 2019.

In May 2018 the Vermont Attorney General’s Office reached a settlement with Volkswagen to resolve violations of the Vermont Consumer Protection Act involving VW’s well-publicized diesel engine scandal. Under the settlement, VW agreed to pay Vermont consumers $2.9 million, up to $1,000 for every qualifying vehicle.

“Thousands of Vermonters have already filed their claims,” said Donovan. “But, we want to make sure that every qualified Vermonter has an opportunity to receive part of the settlement. The deadline for making a claim is March 14th, so don’t wait,” he said.

Consumers should contact the Claims Administrator toll-free at 1-866-665-8420 if they believe they are eligible and have not received a claims form, or with questions about filing a claim postmarked by March 14th.
