Statement from the Vermont Office of the Attorney General

August 19, 2019

Contact: Domenica Padula, Chief, Criminal Division, 802-828-3171

Earlier today, the State of Vermont filed two criminal charges against Max Misch in Bennington County Superior Court. The charges alleged that Mr. Misch violated his prior court-ordered conditions of release by 1) contacting a person he was prohibited from contacting, and 2) traveling outside of Bennington County.

At the arraignment, the State of Vermont asked that the court impose $200 bail, the maximum amount allowable under the statute, on each violation. The Court denied the State’s request. The Court did continue the previous conditions of release with an added condition that Mr. Misch not contact an additional State’s witness. The next court date is set for September 9, 2019.

The Attorney General’s Office reminds the public that a defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.

The State of Vermont was represented by Assistant Attorney General Ultan Doyle at the arraignment.
