EPI Testifies in Support of Strengthening VT’s Long-Term Care Laws

February 12, 2020

Last week, EPI Chair Jamie Renner testified before the House Human Services Committee in support of H.635, a bill that would strength Vermont’s long-term care laws. Specifically, H.635 would strengthen the State’s ability to request and obtain court-appointed “receivers”—or, interim managers–over long-term care facilities when necessary to protect residents’ health and safety. The bill would also strengthen the State’s power to take immediate enforcement actions where long-term care facility residents are being subjected to “mental harms” (as distinct from “physical harms”).
