Attorney General’s Office Files Lawsuit Against Unlicensed Plumber; Alleges Unlicensed Practice and Advertising Violations

November 29, 2023

The Attorney General’s Office filed a complaint earlier this week against Plumb Perfect, LLC, and its owner/proprietor, Stanley Selig. The complaint alleges that Mr. Selig and his business have operated for many years in an unlicensed capacity yet advertise “expert” plumbing services. The State of Vermont requires licensure for plumbers to lawfully operate.

The Attorney General is requesting injunctive relief to stop the unlicensed practice and advertising, restitution for aggrieved consumers, and penalties and costs to the State, along with any other relief the court deems just.

The Attorney General’s Consumer Assistance Program offers a free mediation service for Vermont consumers, including small businesses. Vermonters who wish to make a complaint about Plumb Perfect, LLC and/or Mr. Selig may contact the Consumer Assistance Program by calling 800-649-2424 or visiting ago.vermont.gov/cap.

Information about the State of Vermont’s licensure requirement for plumbers is available on the Department of Public Safety’s website at: https://firesafety.vermont.gov/licensing/plumbing
