Attorney General T.J. Donovan will partner with Vermont Legal Aid, Lamoille Restorative Center, and the Lamoille County State’s Attorney to host an expungement clinic on Friday, January 24th from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Restorative Justice Center in Hyde Park. Expungements wipe from your record specific convictions and dismissed charges after a certain period of time has passed. Under Vermont law, many misdemeanors, 14 different felony offenses, and all dismissed charges can be expunged. The clinic will focus on expunging charges and convictions from Lamoille and Chittenden counties only and will be open to the public by appointment or walk-in. Attorney General Donovan has been an outspoken advocate to expand access to expungements by increasing the types of offenses that are eligible for expungement. This is the fourth in a series of expungement clinics that Attorney General Donovan has co-hosted around the state.

“Expungement is a vital tool for increasing access to jobs, housing, and education for Vermonters,” said Attorney General Donovan. “Expunging people’s criminal records gives them a fresh start by providing the opportunity to be a part of their community, to get a job, to further their education, and to provide for their families. I support Vermont Legal Aid, the Lamoille Restorative Center, and State’s Attorney Todd Shove in their efforts to help the community and thank them for their leadership on this issue.”
