Bridport Resident Charged with Second-Degree Murder

Category
April 15, 2025

The Attorney General’s Office today announced Stephen Nuciolo Jr., 18, of Bridport, Vermont, was charged in Vermont Superior Court, Addison Criminal Division, on one felony count of Murder in the Second Degree. Mr. Nuciolo is accused of fatally shooting his father, Stephen Nuciolo Sr., on January 24, 2024, at the family’s residence in Bridport, Vermont.

During the arraignment, Mr. Nuciolo invoked his right to the 24-hour rule, allowing him an additional day to enter his plea. The Court, Judge Robert Katims presiding, ordered the parties to return tomorrow, April 16, for the defendant’s entry of a plea. The State of Vermont, represented by the Attorney General’s Office, stated during today’s hearing that it would not object should the defendant or the court move for youthful offender consideration.

The Court continued its hold without bail order until tomorrow’s hearing, at which point the Court will hear arguments regarding bail and possible release.

The Attorney General’s Office emphasizes that individuals charged with a crime are legally presumed innocent until their guilt is proven beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
