Communications Intern

Category
July 23, 2024

The Attorney General’s Office’s (AGO’s) Communications Intern will serve during the fall 2024 semester. The intern will report to the Outreach and Communications Coordinator of the AGO. This intern will spend 5-10 hours/week on this internship. Ideally, the intern would be currently pursuing a master’s or bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Policy, Political Science, Communications, Law, or a similar field. The internship will be largely remote, but may require some in-person work, such as attending press conferences.

The intern’s communications work would include such activities as drafting social media posts, updating content for the AGO’s website, revising template press releases, and organizing and attending press conferences. In addition, the intern may provide support and coordination for the AGO’s outreach and legislative efforts, such as:

  1. Work on the team of AGO staff coordinating our expungement clinics, providing Vermonters the opportunity to expunge or seal their old criminal records. (Here is a press release describing one such clinic.)
  2. Work on the team of AGO staff focused on policy change during the legislative session. This may include: creating and updating the legislative tracking spreadsheet, research as directed by the Legislative and Policy Director, and proofreading draft legislative reports.

The AGO supports communication interns’ pursuit of course credit for this internship. This is an unpaid internship. Please send a resume and cover letter to AGO.Info@vermont.gov and include "Communications Intern" in the subject line. The deadline to apply is August 23.
