The Vermont Attorney General’s Office has been fighting to end the opioid crisis and hold industry participants accountable for their roles in promoting and profiting from the opioid epidemic.
SETTLEMENTS WITH DISTRIBUTORS AND JANSSEN
As a result of Vermont Attorney General’s efforts, both individually and together with other State Attorneys General, 2021 settlements were reached against the three largest pharmaceutical distributors, McKesson, Cardinal Health and Amerisource Bergen (“Distributors”), and drug manufacture Janssen Pharmaceuticals, Inc., and its parent company Johnson & Johnson (J&J).

SETTLEMENTS WITH ALLERGAN, TEVA, CVS, WALGREENS, AND WALMART
In 2022, settlements were also reached with drug manufacturers Teva and Allergan and pharmacy chains Walgreens, Walmart, and CVS.

Similar information is not yet available for the settlements with Teva, Allergan or the chain pharmacies. It is expected that payments to Vermont from those settlements will begin during summer 2024.
