Vermont Prescribed Products Public Data

The following data on expenditures for prescribed products (pharmaceutical, biologics and medical devices) to Vermont health care providers are provided for informational purposes only and are subject to change without prior notice.

The datasets are organized by fiscal year, but are not reported until the following year. For example, the data which form the basis for the report for fiscal year 2011 (issued March 30, 2011) is for the year July 1, 2010 through June 30, 2011. Because this information is not reported to the Vermont Attorney General’s Office until the last quarter of one year, it cannot be included in a report until the following year.

The datasets published for years prior to the FY10 report are not identical to the datasets reflected in the reports because the information contained in the public datasets omits all information which manufacturers designated as “trade secret.” Trade secret information is included when the Vermont Attorney General’s office formulates its annual report but this information is withheld from the general public pursuant to 1 V.S.A. § 317(b)(9).

In 2009, the Vermont legislature amended the law to allow for full public disclosure of the data submitted to the Attorney General for fiscal year 2010 and forward.
