The Legal Unit for the Vermont Department of Health (VDH) represents VDH in civil and administrative litigation and enforcement actions. The Unit provides legal services to an array of programs at VDH, including the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Program, the Health Promotion and Disease Prevention Program, the Maternal Child Health Program. The Unit handles enforcement actions for the Environmental Health Program, including lead and asbestos related violations. The Unit also provides legal services to the Board of Medical Practice and Medical Examiner’s Office.
